Fundamental knowledge of traditional techniques. Learning basic shading, portraiture and expression of line. Understanding positive forms and negative shapes. Perspective, proportion and composition. Work with a Life Drawing model once per Term for gesture and rhythm. To encourage individual expression we experiment with a variety of mediums such as graphite, watercolour, charcoal, Contè, colour pencils and pastel.
