Hidden Disabilities Sunflower

Brighton Recreational Centre has joined the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower to support people with disabilities that may not be immediately visible, such as autism, dementia, mental health issues or learning difficulties.  People can choose to wear a lanyard bearing a sunflower logo as a subtle way of letting others know that they have a non-visible disability and may require additional support, assistance or a bit more time. Sunflower lanyards and badges are available from our reception desk.

Brighton Recreational Centre would like to thank the Bayside City Council for their contribution to enable us to support this important program.

Brighton Recreational Centre is now a Container Refund Point!

We’re excited to announce that Brighton Recreational Centre is now an official container refund point through the Container Deposit Scheme (CDS Vic). You can now return your eligible drink containers and receive 10 cents back for every item or choose to donate your refund to a cause.

Every bottle, can and carton returned helps keep valuable materials out of landfill and contributes to a cleaner, greener community.

What’s Eligible?
Most glass, aluminium, glass, PET, HDPE, steel, and liquid paperboard (carton) drink containers are eligible. You can keep the lids on, we recycle those too!

It’s Easy to Get Started

  1. Download the CDS Vic App and create your account.
  2. Tally your containers by product type (Glass, Aluminium, PET, HDPE, Liquid Paper Board, Steel). Find eligible containers here.
  3. Bring your sorted containers to Brighton Rec and choose to keep your refund or donate it to your favourite cause.

Turn your recycling into something more, earn a little or give a lot and help protect our planet in the process.

Start today and be part of the positive change.

Brighton Recreational Centre is Now a ReCollect Partner!

We’re excited to announce that Brighton Rec is now a featured partner of ReCollect, the super‑easy app that lets you recycle bottles, cans, phones, and small electronics right from your doorstep.

With ReCollect, there’s no sorting, no queues and no mess.  Just book a pickup, put your bags outside by 8am, and they’ll do the rest. You can choose to cash out your refund or donate it to a local cause, which is where we come in!  If you choose to donate, your contribution can go directly to Brighton Rec.  Simply use our link to get started:
